**Special Announcement!!**

The Capital Area Community Action Agency wants to congratulate our Executive Director Tim Center, Esq.!!  Read all about it!!  We are proud of you Tim!

Tallahassee, Fla.~ Capital Area Community Action Agency Executive Director, Tim Center, is honored to be the recipient of City Year’s Hero of Service award.  What’s more, Mr. Center is the first to receive the honor.

The Hero of Service Award Reception, sponsored by CSX, took place during Children's Week in Florida’s state capital, Tallahassee. City Year Florida honors a public leader working for social justice as well as expands awareness about the organization’s work to drive student achievement in three of the most important urban hubs in our state. City Year Miami, Orlando and Jacksonville came together to engage champions and community leaders in a conversation about the broader scope of City Year throughout Florida.

“Tim is not elected official and he's not the CEO of a large company or trade association, but he is a leader. He leads without authority and in doing so he makes a positive impact on his community. That is the definition of service”, said Bob O’Malley with CSX and City Year. “He is a great role model for our City Year Corps members during their year of service.  Tim shows us that we all can make a difference in the communities in which we live."

The City Year Florida Hero of Service Reception is to become an annual event in Tallahassee. In attendance for this inaugural event, in Tallahassee were representatives from the Florida Department of Education, the Department of Economic Opportunity, and the Agency for Workforce Innovation, Volunteer Florida and elected officials of the Florida House and Senate.

“City Year’s mission is rooted in the same idea with a similar mission to Capital Area Community Action Agency.  Both organizations have a goal of helping people and keeping them on track to have successful, meaningful lives”, says Center, after winning his award.  “This is such an unexpected honor from an inspirational organization.”

In addition to his work with the Community Action Agency, Center is also the Executive Director of Sustainable Florida – the premier statewide organization committed to ensuring a quality economic, environmental and social future for Florida and its residents.
