Emergency Shelter Program
Community Human Services Partnership (CHSP) provided $65,000 in grants to support the CACAA Emergency Shelter Program ($15,000), and Head Start Special Services ($50,000). The Emergency Shelter Grant provides emergency hotel accommodations for homeless families. Priority is given to families with children.
All participants are automatically referred to our FSSP for comprehensive support services to stabilize the family, help establish income, and a permanent residence. During the 2004-2005 program year, the $15,000 grant provided 29 families with emergency shelter. Of the 29 families served, our dedicated staff was able to transition 23 families into permanent housing, 4 families into transitional housing, 1 family was assisted to go back to their own hometown, 1family checked out of the emergency shelter sites without contacting the agency, which allowed for no follow-up. Four of the 29 families were enrolled in our FSSP, where they continued to receive assistance to help them make the transition to more permanent housing in Tallahassee, or assistance in returning to their hometown.
