Weatherization Assistance Programs
(WAP / WAP-LIHEAP)

The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)and Weatherization Assistance Program - Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (WAP/LIHEAP) are funded through the U.S. Department of Energy and the State of Florida . The Florida Department of Community Affairs allocates the DOE funds to local CAA and other agencies. Both programs assist low-income families with improving the conditions of their homes by either making energy efficiency improvement or making emergency home repairs.

During the 2004-2005year, $98,612 was provided to 45 homes to help reduce energy costs and improve the comfort and quality of life for low-income residents of Franklin , Gadsden and Gulf Counties . The majority of low-income residents served were elderly.

These are the only programs which allow repairs to be made to mobile homes and renter-occupied units (with owner agreement), where a majority of our poorest families live.
